Hi everybody, how are you? I don't believe it has already been a year since my trip to Morocco, a year ago I was about to leave, to spend a dozen days driving around in this state, is strange, how things have changed in a year, don't you think?

Morocco is really big, different from what I'm used to but at the same time very beautiful, particular. Fortunately I saw so many different places moved from day to day, but of course there are many other places still to be seen.

I made this trip with my friend and I was lucky enough to have her father to guide us (he is Moroccan and lives there), and in some cases even a place to sleep for free, super useful added for the language and for our safety. In general, in the evening but also during the day, I don't think it is ideal to walk around alone if you are a girl / woman, for sure it is better in a group or if it is possible with at least one male figure next to you. Unfortunately in some cases or in some places the mentality is different from that to which I belong (European) and also in terms of clothing , you must be careful not to overdo it with clothes that are too short or low-cut. In all cases it is good not to disrespect their religion especially if you visit one of the mosques.

In general the cost for sleeping and eating is very low and with the exception of Rabat and Casablanca where I had a free place to sleep, for the rest we stayed in really nice hotels and at a really reduced price, some with the swimming pool .

Before starting step by step here is a general view of my trip:

1st day: Plane Trip + Fes

2nd day: Volubilis + Chefchaouen

3rd day: Rabat

4th day: Beach day in Rabat

5th day: Casablanca

6th day: Marrakech

7th / 8th / 9th: Desert Tour (Ait-Ben-Haddou, Tinghir, Todgha Gorges, Merzouga Desert)

10th day: Marrakech + return plane

Ciao a tutti, come state? Non ci credo che è già passato un anno dal mio viaggio in Marocco, un anno fa stavo per partire, per passare una decina di giorni in giro con la macchina per questo stato, che strano, come sono cambiate le cose in un anno, non pensate?

Il Marocco è davvero grande, diverso da quello a cui sono abituata ma allo stesso tempo molto bello, particolare. Fortunatamente sono riuscita a vedere tanti luoghi diversi spostandomi di giorno in giorno, ma ovviamente ci sarebbero tanti altri posti ancora da vedere.

Questo viaggio l'ho fatto con la mia amica e ho avuto la fortuna di avere suo padre a farci da guida. (visto che è di origini marocchine e vive lì), e in alcuni casi anche un posto per dormire gratis, super utile specialmente per la lingua e per la nostra sicurezza. In generale alla sera ma anche di giorno non penso che sia l'ideale gironzolare da sola se sei una ragazza/donna, di sicuro è meglio in gruppo o se è possibile con almeno una figura maschile affianco. Purtroppo in alcuni casi o in alcuni posti la mentalità è diversa da quella a cui appartengo (europea) e anche in fatto di abbigliamento bisogna fare attenzione a non esagerare con vestiti troppo corti o scollati. In tutti i casi è bene non mancare di rispetto anche alla loro religione specialmente nel caso si visiti una delle moschee.

In generale il costo per dormire e mangiare e molto basso e, ad eccezione di Rabat e Casablanca dove avevo un posto gratis in cui dormire, per il resto abbiamo soggiornato in hotel davvero belli e ad un prezzo davvero ridotto, alcuni avevano anche la piscina.

Prima di iniziare tappa per tappa ecco una visione generale del mio viaggio:

1° giorno: Aereo di Andata + Fes

2° giorno: Volubilis + Chefchaouen

3° giorno: Rabat

4° giorno: Mare a Rabat

5° giorno: Casablanca

6° giorno: Marrakech

7°/8°/9°: Tour nel deserto (Ait-Ben-Haddou, Tinghir, Gole di Todgha, Deserto di Merzouga)

10° giorno: Marrakech + Aereo di ritorno

1st day: FES

The first day, in addition to the plane trip that took up half a day, I spent it visiting Fes, an ancient city with its mosques, the university and the famous tanneries, the places where they dye their skins. The perfume (not to mention the stench) is not very pleasant but it is a typical job of the place and you cannot miss it. There are many tanneries and they are placed inside houses so you have to look for them and enter in some houses to admire all this. Obviously it's easier with someone from the place, but you must always be careful not to get screwed.

Il primo giorno oltre al viaggio in aereo che ha occupato già metà giornata, l'ho passato a visitare Fes, un'antica città con le sue moschee, l'università e le famose concerie, i luoghi in cui tingono le pelli. Il profumo (per non dire la puzza) non è molto gradevole ma è un lavoro tipico del posto e non potete non vederlo. Esistono tante concerie e sono collocate all'interno di abitazioni quindi dovete cercare ed entrare in alcune case per ammirare tutto ciò. Ovviamente con qualcuno del posto è più facile, ma bisogna sempre fare attenzione a non farsi fregare.

2nd day: VOLUBILIS + CHEFCHAOUEN

I actually saw the tanneries in the early morning of the second day before leaving for the second destination: Volubilis, the remains of a Roman city, very beautiful. If you have time not far from there you can also visit the city of Meknes which unfortunately I was unable to see.

Following this short but intense stage (in August it's hot, if you can, go in another period), direction to one of my favorite places of the holiday: Chefchaouen. Chefchaouen has nothing in particular to see, it is the city itself to be a piece of art, in fact it is also called the blue city, because of its colorful houses in the shades of blue, an amazing place. Stroll through the streets (without getting lost) and discover the most beautiful and hidden corners of this beautiful city.

2°giorno: VOLUBILIS + CHEFCHAOUEN

Il realtà le concerie le ho viste al mattino presto del secondo giorno prima di partire per la seconda meta: Volubilis, i resti di una città romana, molto belli. Se avete tempo non lontano da lì potete visitare anche la città di Meknes che purtroppo non sono riuscita a vedere.

A seguito di questa breve ma intensa tappa (ad agosto fa caldo, se riuscite, andate in un altro periodo), direzione in uno dei miei posti preferiti della vacanza: Chefchaouen. Chefchaouen non ha niente di particolare da vedere, è la città stessa ad essere un'opera d'arte, infatti è anche chiamata la città blu, per via delle sue case colorate sulle tonalità e sfumature del blu, uno spettacolo. Gironzolate tra le vie (senza perdervi) e scoprite gli angoli più belli e nascosti di questa bellissima città.

3rd day: RABAT

Another day, another city, towards Rabat, the capital of Morocco (perhaps many of you thought it was Marrakech or Casablanca like me). A very pretty city important for Chellah (the old city), the Mausoleum dedicated to Mohammed V and the Hassan Tower.

4th day: RABAT

It was a day of celebration, the feast of the ram, so we decided to relax with a swim in the frozen sea of the ocean, + unplanned stop inside the Royal Palace of Rabat. Admission is free, you only need to register with an identity document.

Era un giorno di festa, la festa del montone, perciò abbiamo deciso di rilassarci con un bagno nel ghiacciato mare dell'oceano, + tappa non prevista all'interno del Palazzo Reale di Rabat. L'ingresso è gratuito bisogna solo farsi registrare con un documento d'identità.

5th day: CASABLANCA

Fifth day in Casablanca, which as famous as it is, there is not all this stuff to see, fundamental is the Hassan II Mosque, which I absolutely recommend its visit, available in various languages, look on the website for more information on timetables and obviously remember to present yourself with appropriate clothing (bring a scarf to cover yourself). And outside the mosque I also felt the emotion of making a henna tattoo, what do you think? In addition to the mosque there are some churches, cathedrals, neighborhoods that you can admire, or take a nice tour of the Morocco Mall, a huge shopping center with an aquarium inside, and all the major high fashion brands (take a tour also in the bathrooms).

5°giorno: CASABLANCA

Quinto giorno a Casablanca, che per quanto sia famosa, non c'è tutta sta roba da vedere, fondamentale è la Moschea di Hassan II, di cui consiglio assolutamente la sua visita, disponibile in varie lingue tra cui l'italiano, guardate sul sito per maggiori informazioni sugli orari e ovviamente ricordatevi di presentarvi con un abbigliamento consono (portatevi una sciarpa per coprirvi). E al di fuori della moschea ho anche provato l'emozione di fare un tatuaggio all'henne, cosa ne pensate? Oltre alla moschea ci sono alcune chiese, cattedrali, quartieri che potete ammirare, o farvi un bel giro al Marocco Mall, un enorme centro commerciale con un acquario al suo interno, e tutte i grandi marchi dell'alta moda (fatevi un giro anche nei bagni).

6th day: MARRAKECH

Sixth day, towards Marrakech, another famous city in Morocco. Here are a few things to see: from the main square Jemaa el-Fna with snake players, the colored Jardin Majorelle immediately next to the YSL museum, the Menara gardens and various palaces such as the Bahia Palace, and of course the usual turns through the neighborhoods without getting too lost in the streets.

6°giorno: MARRAKECH

Sesto giorno, direzione Marrakech, un'altra famosa città del Marocco. Qua ci sono un pochino di cose da vedere: dalla piazza principale Jemaa el-Fna con i suonatori di serpenti, il Jardin Majorelle dai mille colori subito accanto al museo di YSL, i giardini di Menara e vari palazzi come il Bahia Palace, e ovviamente i soliti giri per i quartieri senza perdersi troppo nelle vie.

7/8/9 day: Desert tour (Ait-Ben-Haddou, Todgha Gorges, Tinghir, Merzouga Desert)

For these three days of outing in the desert we relied on an organized tour (>>> LINK) with which we found ourselves really well and at a great price (we spent 110 €) considering that the price included the trip (with pick-up and return to the place you want in Marrakech), one night in an hotel, one in a tent (very Spartan), breakfasts and dinners and a camel ride.

First day, hotel pick-up, direction and visit of Ait-Ben-Haddou, a Unesco heritage city that you have already seen in some films such as the Gladiator. If you want, a guided tour is available for a fee (around 3€) and then free time for lunch. Following Tinghir with dinner and overnight in a 4-star hotel (there was also a swimming pool).

Second day visit of the city with tourist guide included and Todgha Gorges to admire some "nature". Finally Merzouga to get on the camel and admire the sunset over the dunes of the Erg Chebbi desert and to follow a typical Moroccan dinner and the delicious night in a tent. So hot, I sweated a lot and slept not too much, also because then for the last day I wake up early to arrive with the camels on the dunes and admire the sunrise. An experience that I will remember for a lifetime, luckily it was only one night, but despite the negative aspect, it was a good experience to do.

After sunrise, breakfast and a nice shower to take off the sand and after a long journey back to Marrakech, to return to the starting point.

7/8/9°giorno: Tour nel deserto (Ait-Ben-Haddou, Gole di Todgha, Tinghir, Deserto di Merzouga)

Per questi tre giorni di gita nel deserto ci siamo affidati a un tour organizzato (>>>LINK) con cui ci siamo trovate davvero bene e ad un prezzo ottimo (noi abbiamo speso 110€) considerando che è compreso il viaggio (con prelievo e rientro presso il luogo che vuoi tu in Marrakech), una notte in hotel, una in tenda (molto spartana), le colazioni e le cene e il giro sul cammello.

Primo giorno prelievo dall'hotel, direzione e visita di Ait-Ben-Haddou, città patrimonio dell'Unesco che avrete già visto in alcuni film come il Gladiatore. Se volete è disponibile la visita guidata a pagamento (circa 3 €) e poi pranzo libero. A seguire direzione Tinghir con cena e pernottamento in un hotel 4 stelle (c'era anche la piscina).

Secondo giorno visita della città con guida turistica inclusa e Gole di Todgha per ammirare un pò di "natura". Infine direzione Merzouga per salire sul cammello e ammirare il tramonto sulle dune del deserto di Erg Chebbi e a seguire cena tipica marocchina e la deliziosa notte in tenda. Un caldo da morire, ho sudato tantissimo e dormito davvero poco anche perchè poi per l'ultimo giorno sveglia presto per arrivare con i cammelli sulle dune ad ammirare l'alba, un'esperienza che ricorderò per tutta la vita, per fortuna era solo una notte, ma nonostante l'aspetto negativo, è stata una bella esperienza da fare.

Dopo l'alba, colazione e una bella doccia per togliersi la sabbia di dosso e dopo un lungo viaggio di ritorno fino a Marrakech, per ritornare al punto di partenza.
